Good morning my readers, I do hope you all have had a nice and relaxing weekend! Thank you so much for all your nice words about the Lefèvre Interiors project showed on my previous blogpost. I so appreciate all of your comments and thoughts!
Today I would love to talk about ‘simple’, however ‘simply beautiful’ kitchens!
The first kitchen is of Belgian antiques dealers Brigitte & Alain Garnier and has always been one of my favorite kitchens.
The combination of the beamed ceiling, the bluestone floor tiles and the simplicity of the chosen materials for the kitchen cabinets, sink and counters is wonderful. The structure in reinforced concrete creates a nice continuation of the neutral chosen colors of the room and the wooden cabinet doors.
Notice the steel window !
This kitchen has been published in a lot of renown interior design magazines. The next two photos of this kitchen are taken by my favorite Belgian photographer Claude Smekens. Claude always knows exactly how to capture the atmosphere of a room.

The next kitchen I found on the website of the Belgian guesthouse ‘Heerlijkheid van Marrem’. This guesthouse is definitely a must for those who would love to spend some time at the Belgian country side and who love all things pure and natural.
Here again is chosen for purity and an uncluttered look without going bare or cold.

For those who follow my blog since a while do know that I love the kitchen of Susan, author of the blog Two Maisons and living in France. I already posted about Susan’s kitchen in one of my last year’s kitchen posts (here).
Susan used old cheese planks for the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers.

Don’t you love this Moroccan kitchen? I might think this kitchen is executed with tadelakt plaster. Gorgeous!

I couldn’t take my eyes off this beautiful and uncluttered kitchen the moment I discovered it on Joni’s blog Cote de Texas!

This kitchen I do love because of all the white tiles used here which creates a very peaceful atmosphere. And the tiles are very beautiful in combination with the dark floortiles.

One of my favorite US designers is the Houston based designer Pam Pierce, who you all might know. I love her design style, which is frequently based on the Belgian style.
I just love this kitchen of Pam Pierce. A very pure style kitchen with well chosen basic furniture and gorgeous decorative items as the table lamp and painting. I love the glimpse of the linen covered seat here!

simply....FABULOUS kitchens!!
ReplyDeleteI am always so impressed by the modernity of these spaces, yet they never feel modern or contemporary. The use of old or roughly hewn natural materials to express shape and form are spectacular. Decisions made with clear intent, down to the littlest detail, corner and piece of hardware. Brilliant!
ReplyDeletePerfect way to start the week!
Cheers,
John

BEAUTIFUL kitchens!! Love the plastered or concrete shelves and cabinets!!
ReplyDeleteHello Greet - yes, yes and yes. I am especially drawn to the Kitchen of Brigitte & Alain Garnier with the light wood and that beautiful hand laid floor. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures. Now I feel energized to get back to work!

Hi Greet, I, too, am an admirer Pam Pierce. I love the spare look and use of natural materials in these kitchens.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week,
Phyllis
Greet, I do love Joni and her blog so much, and it's delightful to see a Houstonian's work on your blog. All of these images are so lovely, they make me feel calm just looking at them. Sending love, my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome and incredible inspiration for some of my own up-coming projects! Thanks sOooo much!

Greet,
ReplyDeleteThe kitchens are just gorgeous! I thought I've seen all, but you keep surprising me over and over again.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Wow, Greet,
ReplyDeleteThis was a post with my name written all over it. Love these kitchens for lots of reasons. First, they are not all white, but instead combine wood and stone with sleeker elements like stainless - such a great combination. They are uncluttered, but still contain authentic antiques like the cutting boards and the bowls.
Enough responding, I must go check out the owners' blogs and websites. Thanks, Greet, for a wonderful post.
xo,

Hello dearest Greet,
ReplyDeleteThese kitchens are not just pretty, but they evoke a feeling of pure comfort. I can't help but wonder how in the world one would clean the rough stone floors, though. I love all of the white, my favourite thing in a kitchen.
I hope you're enjoying your Summer, thank you for your sweet comment on my last post. My daughter is doing well and I am going home this week! I miss my hubby SO MUCH.
Hugs, Cindy
The second to last photo with the wall mounted faucet listed as "source unknown" is from House Beautiful - sometime in 2008 (maybe 2007). I have had this photo in my inspiration file for years, and am finally now using it for my kitchen inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat absolutely beautiful kitchens. The warm and relaxed feel evoked from the beams and rough hewn materials is stunning! The last kitchen with the double sinks in incredible...
ReplyDeleteI find something lovely in each one.....smiles
ReplyDeleteThat last photo by Henri del Olmo is absolutely perfect! I want to immediately start chopping up fresh herbs. Thank you for that photo!!! It's just WOW kind of perfect. xoxo dina
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find the link, do you know where that one is from? ~dina
ReplyDeleteThank you for these inspiring images...simple, calm spaces that are just stunning... xv
ReplyDeleteHello, Greet.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post.
You have a wonderful eye for clean design.
The image with the apples and pears in a long-handled colander over the sink -- and the artichokes, flowers, and photograph to the right of th sink -- is from Betsy Brown's home in Alabama, USA. Betsy Brown is a talented designer, and her home was featured in House Beautiful magazine a few years ago.

I am so happy I didn't miss this fabulous post as I love every single kitchen. They give a sense of calm with all their textures, I really love the use of reclaimed wood and stone. My only wish is that I had seen this post before we remodeled our kitchen.
